Community Weaving Projects

Between 2022 and 2023 the Andover Planning Department engaged the community in a number of meetings to reimagine the Historic Mill District. The Andover Community Weaving project invited participants to add yarn to the warp and the completed creation was presented as a representation of the many people who participated in shaping the new vision for this area.

Diverse Voices:  Building Community through Arts and Conversation - A Merrimack Valley event bringing together town and community leaders, artists, and community members in collaboration and connection. We asked - How can the small impacts of individuals acting alone and asynchronously reshape and rebuild our world into something more vibrant and reflective of us all? With “Rebuilding” we invited participants to consider this question as they took apart and reconstructed a weaving so that it might begin to reflect the diverse voices, ideas, and creativity of all the attendees.

Andover Weaving:

Rebirth & Renewal

May 2021-August 2021

In partnership with the Andover Center for History & Culture, the Cazimi Creative Collaborative will create a large-scale woven public art mural along a 44-foot section of fence on Main Street in downtown Andover.

To celebrate the rebirth and renewal of Andover, after the 2018 gas crisis and the Coronavirus pandemic our weaving illustrated life bursting forth after a period of darkness. We explored the concept that while the darkness of winter might be filled with feelings of sadness, isolation, and loss, it is really a period of transformation, a period during which things are let go of in order to make room for the beauty of spring’s new life.

The Collaborative consists of Molly Foley, Morgan von Prelle Pecelli, and Emily O’Hara.
